EMEA CHRIE 2026, Call for Papers​

We are excited to welcome you to the EMEA CHRIE 2026 Conference in Dubai, from November 9th to 12th, 2026!

EMEA CHRIE, the Europe, Middle East and Africa Federation of the International Council on Hospitality, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, brings together educators from hospitality and tourism management schools and universities into a global network in close co-operation with industry representatives. Under the CHRIE umbrella, both education and industry combine their efforts to shape the future of hospitality and tourism.

We would like to invite you to submit your research and attend the event of the year!

 CALL FOR PAPERS

The theme of the EMEA CHRIE 2026 conference is ‘Beyond the Map: Defining the Future of Tourism’. The conference committee invites you to submit a paper, poster presentation, lecturer’s lounge topic, or workshop topic within the broad theme of the conference and within the following conference tracks:

  • Beyond the Map: Reimagining Tourism Marketing & the Traveller Journey
    Tourism and hospitality marketing across the full guest journey, including destination image, digital marketing, data analytics, storytelling, and loyalty.
  • Beyond the Event: Experiences that Shape Place & Purpose
    Events, festivals, and experience programming as drivers of destination development, demand, reputation, and identity.
  • Beyond the Workforce: Talent & Destination Reputation
    Workforce development, education, leadership, and talent retention as foundations of service excellence and competitiveness.
  • Beyond Misconceptions: Women Shaping Destinations
    Women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, and influence in hospitality and tourism, with a focus on equity, inclusion, and innovation.
  • Beyond the Plate: Culture, Gastronomy & Destination Identity
    Culinary tourism, gastronomy branding, food innovation, heritage, and the role of cuisine in shaping destination appeal.
  • Beyond Experience: Hospitality, Quality & Trust
    Service design, quality assurance, guest satisfaction, and their impact on destination reputation and loyalty.
  • Beyond Responsibility: ESG, Accessibility & Sustainability
    Sustainable and inclusive destination practices, ESG integration, governance, and long-term value creation.

Call for Papers Schedule 

  • First Call for Papers/Posters: 16 January 2026
  • Second Call for Papers/Posters:  20 April 2026
  • Registration opens: 20 April 2026
  • Deadline for Full Paper (not Abstracts)/Poster Submission: 5 June 2026
  • Symposium/Workshop Expression of Interest Deadline: 5 June  2026
  • Early Bird Registration Closes: 9 October 2026
  • Poster submission deadline: 5 October 2026
  • Registration closes: 1 November 2026

Publication Opportunities

Authors should identify if they wish their full papers to be published in the EMEA CHRIE conference proceedings.

High quality papers will be introduced to editors of one of the following possible journals should the author(s) be interested: 

  • Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research (JHTR) 
  • Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Education (JHTE) 
  • Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Cases (JHTC) 
  • International Marketing Journal of Culture and Tourism (www.imjct.com)

PDF of all abstracts and all posters will be made available via EMEA CHRIE conference website.

Venue

The conference will be hosted by Dubai College of Tourism. The address of the main venue is Mohammed bin Rashid Library, Al Jaddaf, Dubai.
